The foundry was set up in 1857 as E.A. Williams & Son Brass & Bell Foundry. The name E. A. Williams and who he was has been lost but what we do know is that quite a few bells were cast in this foundry, and that they, or a version of the same company was in business for at least 96 years.
The foundry produced a lot of ships bells to the US Navy, fire department bells and some church bells. A few of the ships they made bells for are as follows.
· USS New Hampshire in 1907
· USS Arizona in 1916
· USS Pennsylvania in 1916
· USS Mississippi in 1917
· USS New Mexico in 1918
· USS Tennessee in 1920
· USS Maryland in 1921
In 1953 the foundry was moved from Jersey City to Carlstadt, NJ.
